About Our Founder

Rick Wheeler, JD, MBA
Founder and Lead Attorney
Heritage Estate Plans, Inc.
Rick Wheeler never planned on becoming an estate planning attorney. Before law school, he worked as a business consultant and believed attorneys were only needed when something went wrong. But while studying law, he discovered how easily an unexpected death or medical emergency could leave families facing confusion, court involvement, and unnecessary stress.
After becoming an attorney, Rick chose to focus on helping people prevent legal problems rather than simply solving them. That mission became personal when friends began asking for help after losing their parents. As they struggled through probate, Rick witnessed grieving families burdened with court proceedings, delays, uncertainty, and conflict at the very time they needed peace of mind.
Those experiences ignited Rick's passion for estate planning. Yet he soon realized the traditional legal model often ended once the documents were signed. Clients frequently had to pay again for updates, additional legal advice, or guidance for their loved ones after a death.
Rick believed families deserved something better. That belief led him to create Heritage Estate Plans—a lifelong membership designed to provide not only comprehensive estate planning documents, but also ongoing legal guidance, lifetime amendments, and continued support for families when they need it most.
Today, Heritage is transforming estate planning in all 50 States; from a one-time transaction into a lifelong relationship focused on protection, education, and legacy. Through the "Probate Ends With Us" movement, Rick is committed to helping families avoid unnecessary court involvement and giving them confidence that the people they love will be protected when life changes forever.
Because estate planning isn't about preparing for death—it's about protecting the people you love most.
